Friday Chocolate (on Saturday!)

Another New Attempt
Ok, I have wanted to do this Linky, Mr. Dinky thing that I see everyone do. So I am going to try it with Lisa at Stop and Smell the Chocolate. She does a
chocolate theme every Friday and has some of the nicest, most delicious recipes ever.
WELL....my mom made a cake the other day and it was to die for.
She said she can not take credit for it, someone else
gave it to her, and THEY got it
from Betty Crocker.
Who cares? It is absolutely wonderful and you all probably
already have it. But since I am ALWAYS a day late
and a dollar short, I just had it for the first time.
There are no pictures, I have not made this cake,
I just ate it. And there is NOTHING left to
take a picture of.
SO
You will have to just trust me!
Better that Almost Anything Cake:
1 Box of Betty Crocker SuperMoist German chocolate cake mix.
add the water, vegetable oil and eggs that are called for in the mix directions.
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 jar (16-17 oz) caramel, butterscotch or fudge topping (like ice cream topping!)
1 container Betty Crocker Whipped fluffy white frosting or frozen whipped topping thawed
1 cup toffee chips or bits
1. Heat oven to 350 F (325 F for dark or nonstick pans) Make cake as directed for 13x9 " pan
cool for at least 15 minutes
2. Poke top of warm cake every 1/2 inch with handle of wooden spoon. Drizzle sweetened condensed milk evenly over top of cake; let stand until milk has been absorbed into cake. Drizzle with caramel topping. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled.
3. Spread frosting over top of cake. Sprinkle with toffee chips. Store covered in refrigerator.
Serves 15, or one hungry woman in need of some good chocolate.
I was worried I would not like this cake. I HATE coconut so I was not going to try it. I did not realize that German Chocolate cake does not have coconut, it is the icing that has it. My mom used the caramel, and she used the Fluffy whipped frosting, not the frozen whipped topping (Cool Whip?). Although that might be a good one as well. This was one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever eaten. I hope you will try it and enjoy it. Or come by and visit my mom some time and let her serve you a big ole piece.

Thanks for doing a chocolate post! I have heard of this cake, I think, but have never had it. How could that be?! It sounds like my kind of cake!

YUM! I'll be trying this one.

Okay - I don't need to know about any more good food. This looks wonderful, but I have to resist sweets - it's been way to good of a summer in the eatn department!!!
