Update on Fence

We are back. Got r dun. Redneck version I know and let me assure you my neck was not red, rather was black with dirt. We were covered in dirt and grime by the time we left there. The fence was not as bad as we anticipated (thank you Lord! for that small blessing.) It was only about 30' of fencing rather than the whole side yard. We were thinking it was the complete east fence and planned on it taking all day. That shows the mis-communications between my daughter and me. Like I said she called in a very bad mood, and when I tried to call her later she didn't answer the phone (she was mowing front yard) and when we did finally talk she was already asleep on the sofa. So we did not talk clearly to each other (do they ever grow out of this?) Can you feel my frustration?
We got there this morning and went right to work. While Scott was gone to the store getting the supplies I mowed the backyard. After mowing I then found the weed eater and cleaned up around the fence and house. Looked pretty good if I do say so myself. I got the shovel out and scrapped the grass and dirt from the little make shift patio (flat cement pavers so grass and junk grows between them.). The tree limbs are all over the ground from the HUGE pecan tree in the neighbors yard so I raked them and mended fence that was patched. All the while the wind was blowing about 30 mph, NO BUGS....just dirt blowing right back in my face. No matter which way I mowed, or scraped or raked, it all blew right back into my face. I picked up trash, the dog loves to tear stuff up and it stays in the yard forever, so I picked that up and threw it away. I WAS NOT IN A GOOD MOOD. I did it because I love her, but I was also angry so I might have played a little martyr here. She is such a lucky kid. She is 24 and has her own house. Of course she has her own house payment too, and all the stuff that goes with it. But it is an old little house, built in the 50's, one car, 2 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen, dining room and living room. It is a cute little rock house. I just wish she would take a little more pride in it and keep it up better. Ok, enough of my rantings. We are home, the storms are moving in, the fence is fixed (for now, unless the next storm takes it out!) and life is good. I love my kids, I love my life, and I love blogging, I might need to "get a life" huh? sorry!

Fence Building

We are heading to OKC today to build fence. My daughter called last night all upset (ie bad mood) about several things and said, by the way the fence blew down. She has two dogs and the neighbor is not too friendly so I am sure this was not a good thing. We are pressed against time for a major storm is coming in and will be here for the next 36 to 48 hours. It is not the rains I am concerned about, guess what??? WINDS. They are expecting some wind gust up to nearly 50mph. So we are going to hit the road and build fence. I just fear we won't get it done before the storms arrive and then all the work we will have done will be undone. We have experienced that before huh? It is already cloudy where we are, and OKC is more in the middle of the stormy weather than we are. So keep your fingers crossed we make it in time, that the dogs are safe and the fence stays up once we get it done. You know the cement will not have time to set before we get all this done. Good grief, I do not feel good about this. But she has two dogs, works, and I don't know what else to do.
I am not going to take time to take pictures, so I will just talk to everyone when we get home. Hopefully MY dogs will be ok while we are gone. Oh, we returned the baby last night and she cried when her momma took her and she reached out for me and had that look in her eyes, thank good ness it was dark and no one else could see the wetness in my eyes. It does a grandma's heart good to know the apple of her eye loves her! Can't wait to see that boy next! gotta run...he is loading the truck. bye

Nice Little Surprises

Some Nice Surprises
I do enjoy the squirrels even if they do
cause me grief at times. How can you not think
they are just cute. They are God's creatures after all.

And I am not sure what she is thinking here.
Might be best if I don't know what she is planning.

But she is just too cute.

Even more cute than that squirrel !!

And she was a pill today. Did not nap well at all.

But that's ok, she was in bed by 8:45 p.m.

I need to hit the sack now!

And this is one of the nicest surprises I have EVER gotten.

Just look at the detail, and you can see

love in every single stitch.
These tea towels are too pretty to use, but I do.

I am amazed by the talents of other people

and feel so blessed to have received these as a gift.

I "won" a pair of these towels from Memaw Bakes Memories

and I can say it is truly one of the nicest gift I have ever gotten

from someone that has never met me. They hang

proudly in my kitchen and I have received so many

compliments on them. I love telling the story of how

they were made by a very special person.

Isn't is amazing how people touch our lives

in so many ways.

I am blessed.

Thank you!

Flat Wallet

This is my flat wallet. That is a regular size Sharpie laying next to it. It measures about
4"x7".

It is pretty thin. As you can
tell by this pen next to it.

The pen is inside it and the wallet
shut. You don't see it bulging do you?
No, because it is not.

Open it and you have the DL opening
along with four credit card holders.
Behind that I have my pictures from
another wallet and misc junk too.
On the right side is a zipper for change and behind that is a spot for the paper money.
You can put your check book and pen in there too.
But not too many people carry check books, just debit cards.

I am just trying to show another shot of the size of the wallet. I just love this thing. I paid, ( I mean my husband paid!) $20.00 for it. I think she is sold out at this time, she says she just can not keep them in stock. They come is so many colors and textures. Some with bling added and some plain. I liked the plain. I think there are prints as well. I did Google "flat wallets" and found a place that sells them for $10.00, but I don't know what brand or quality. I just know it holds a BUNCH of stuff and is so handy. They even have one that is credit card size and just holds a few things like a few cards, id, folded money etc. It is about 1/2 the size of this one. I like it too, but needed more room. Let me know if you all find them, probably more in little specialty stores, I don't know maybe Dillard's has them, I have not looked. But I love mine. They had red, pink, black, brown, and a couple prints if I remember right. I want to get pink for my daughter and then I want to see what the fall colors are going to be. She is going to market this next week I think. So I will let you know what we find out about that. Hope you have enjoyed this little show brought to you by the fashion "police". Get it??? Police?? Me?? I used to be a police???man?? funny huh???? Ok, good night! Now I have to see if I can find a song to go with THIS post.....if not, you get to hear the squirrel song again!!!

Music

Falala and la di da
Today I am writing about something that is interesting to me. (as opposed to my other blogs...not being interesting to me?) That was kind of dumb. I love music. Not all kinds of music, I am very simple, I pretty much like country and a few other songs like the oldies. But I really do like music. I was reading a blog one day and one of the writers "pet peeves" was music on blog sites. I almost took mine off, almost decided to just quit blogging because I didn't fit in to the standards of blogging. And this person gets quite a few comments on her bloggs. In fact, most of the comments on that post was they do not like music on the blogs sites either. I am often so insecure about myself and my abilities to do anything on the computer so I almost...almost stopped. Then I remembered something. I blog for me, not everyone else. I blog because I like to hear myself talk and ramble. I blog because I needed a place to put my pictures and just have fun since I have retired. I did not know people were reading my blog other than Cara in Texas and Linda in Nebraska and of course Jill my cousin and neighbor! Then I started branching out and found out that other people will come over and visit. And I started visiting with them. That is actually how I found out that you can put music on a blog post. And I liked it. I used to go to this blog and just listen to her music while I played on the computer. But I have found a lot of people really do not like the music. It is too distracting. I agree. Rather I should say...I understand. I wonder if it doesn't bother me because for 21 plus years I listened to AM/FM radio, police radio, talked on the phone and listened to/for people as I am driving around town in my police car. Do you think that might be why it doesn't bother me? I actually listen to my play list, watch TV and read blogs or play on the computer. Weird huh? But I really do want to know how many of you are bothered by the music. Will I stop it? Probably not right now, but I might later on. I wish I knew how to fix it to only play if the viewer wanted it to play. Otherwise it was on the stop mode. So I put a poll on the side. Please vote and it does not hurt my feelings if everyone says they don't care for the music. I am just curious. I promise I will not change things just because everyone says so, I am not that big of a conformist, but I am a person that just wonders about people.
Another thing I want to know is....do you know what a flat wallet is? Do you have one, do you like it? Would you like to have one? How much are they were you live? What colors have you seen? What color do you like most? You can not hardly find them around here they are so popular and yes I got one. For my birthday from my husband. and yes I love it! I heard they are going to be featured on Oprah's Favorite list this fall. I was just curious as to what you think and know. And I needed something to blog about!
Don't forget to vote...with or without comment.

song

Ok, OK, I know I need to change my song...but I just CAN'T. I laugh so hard EVERY TIME I hear it. It actually brings a smile to my face, I actually laugh out loud, I know I am easily amused, yes it is true, but I really like it. So turn off the music then watch the videos that I posted. But if you just want to laugh, forgot my blog post and just listen to this great song .....squirrels!

Guess What Happened Today!

Well guess what happened today! It was a BEAUTIFUL day....for a little while. Then once again it was same song THIRD verse. Good grief. You know this is going to make the mosquitoes terrible this year. So West Niles will be bad and heart worms for the animals will be bad. Oh, I guess you have figured out that it rained again here today. We got almost two inches, it was about 1 3/4", but it came down hard and fast too. THEN on top of everything else we got hail, and I do mean hail. But we were the lucky ones, everyone around us had anywhere from marble to tennis ball size hail and it busted windows like crazy. We just had enough hail to make it look like snow, probably ruin our roof, and was loud and honestly kind of cool. But I like storms. I just don't like the damage it causes.

I know this is not that bad, I know lots of people have a lot more than this, or at least what this picture shows, but it was a pretty good storm. We had one wave come through that did the hail storm and then about 15 minutes later another big wave came through and dropped the rain on us. The tomatoes in the garden are just so water logged, they probably won't make it this year. At least the hail didn't wipe them out!!!! That's something to be thankful for!

It was still a good weekend. After the storm passed we went to town to meet my dad at Mazzio's Pizza for lunch. He was very hungry for pizza, it is his normal Sunday dinner (?) and my mom was not feeling well. So he left her and met us there. It was so nice. Then my mom's cousin came by and ate a bite with us and saw the baby. She just made over Allie (who wouldn't?) and it was so nice to visit with her. She was the maid of honor at my mom's wedding 50+ years ago, they have always been very close and I love her dearly. We are now planning a trip to Ft.Worth by train! So this has been a really nice weekend, the baby has been good, and we are truly blessed. Talk to you again soon.
