Friday Funnies

News before the Friday Funnies

you can skip the posting and go right to the bottom for my joke!

I am FINISHED...well sort of

I have been busy this week doing what I really don't know. But it seems I have been doing something all week long. I am really trying to get things organized and start doing more or my photography. I would like to try and make a little money with this hobby I have. And I love people and being a part of their special events. And I have been trying to catch up on a few shows that I have recorded.

I have finished up on the Christmas shopping except for my daughters big gift and since she doesn't read my blog I can tell you I will probably give her money. She is 24, my baby, and the only one not married. I set a limit as to how much I spend on each family and since she doesn't have a family she gets more spent on her alone. She kind of likes this theory. It might prevent her from getting married I fear!!!

(Just kidding Beth, in case you DO read this one!)

Do you know the old saying...the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys? Well I feel the same way about my kids. Ouch! My daughters gift ideas get expensive....like window tinting, auto start on her car (that was my idea actually)and this game system that cost $400 stinking dollars!!! I don't remember what it is called, PlayStation 3, or something, but it plays Blue ray and she doesn't have cable etc so she wants to watch movies on Blue ray. Well have you seen how expensive those disk are? So I don't think that will be on my list to get her. I am still buying DVDs for now. But honestly, I am very proud of myself for my shopping this year. I LOVE getting gifts for everyone. I am a giver, that is my heart, so I love Christmas. But since I am now retired and NO money coming in at all other than the little retirement check, I had to set a budget for Christmas. And I have stuck to it. I could so go overboard for the grand kids. I would really like to, but I also believe that presents should include presence and that is my goal for the whole year. To be available to the grand kids all year. To make their time with us very special. It will be gone all to soon. I am missing them badly right now. I need a weekend with those sweet little ones. That is a gift to me ...to spend time with the family.

Now having said all of this..I still don't have a Christmas tree up. Why? It is in the attic and I can't get it down. I have asked for it several times, but ???? Hint hint hint. This weekend I won't be home to put it up for I am traveling to go do a photo shoot with a family with a new three month old baby ( and two siblings). Then I am going to baby sit the family while they go to a Christmas party. It is my daughters party with several of her friends. So we will see what all I get done after that! I am hoping to do another shoot on Sunday of two kids and two dogs. But that has not been nailed down yet!

So that is what my life is this past week. I have not been on the computer as much as I usually do, and I have not really wanted to blog this week. I have spent the day with my mom and we went shopping and out to lunch ( Oh I love those days!) and then shopping with my husband yesterday, and just STUFF. Oh we had lunch with my aunt and uncle and my other aunt and uncle then played dominoes in the afternoon. That was A BLAST!!! Today we need to hit the grocery store for we are in store for another "ICE STORM" next week. It appears that the Tulsa area is predicted to have freezing rain and they are watching it close for it was only one year ago we had the horrible ice storm where people were with out electricity for days, and some even weeks. So I plan to get every thing done this week and not have to do anything next week. Might be a good time to put the tree up and just decorate and stay in front of the fireplace. Sounds like a plan to me. AND, I have not done any Christmas cards. That just may not happen this year. For now I am watching the squirrels play outside my window, the birds need to be fed, they are eating me out of house and home!. Plus I want things done to my house like repaint bedrooms, new carpet, and remodel the kitchen. Well that will be on my to do list for after Christmas! For now, I need to go get stuff done.

Here is my friday funny, be sure and visit Kim at Homesteaders Heart for a good laugh..

Dad At The Mall

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes. We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him.

The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors:green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time. When the teenager had enough, he sarcastically asked, 'What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?'

Knowing my dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; knowing he would have a good one. And in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response….
'Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son.'

eeek! stay warm in all of that ice. I remember that storm last year well, I think my parents were out of power for something like 17 days. They still have damaged trees from the ice.

good luck with your photography, I think you are more than ready to start making an income at this!

I will email you the recipe for the buckeyes asap. Have a good weekend!
